Have You Cooked Your First Turkey

When I was newly married
I had so much to learn
Before my blue ribbon
As housewife and cook I earned.
I was so proud when Thanksgiving came
(My first one far away from home)
And I decided I was ready
To do the dinner on my own.
I put that turkey in the oven
And let it cook all nice and brown
Just as the directions stated,
Went back to the other tasks,
As I confidently waited.
I meant to make some gravy
But then I hesitated
For I had no giblets and I knew
There must be something
That I needed to do.
A plain gravy would have to suffice
For I was such a determined wife
That I would have it all
I would not drop the Thanksgiving ball!
When dinnertime came
And hubby sliced the golden bird
"What is this package stuffed inside?"
Was the first thing that I heard...

Me too...now I just go get a cajun fried turkey from popeye's every year, cooks in two hours and is seasoned to perfection everytime.
pre-cooked so basically just heating it up in two cups of water, very simple and tidy.
