Kids Can Make a Difference

Although I’m just a kid
I can do my best
I can make life better for someone
I can make a difference.
I can be obedient to my parents
(I know they will be glad)
I can be there when Mom needs me
And be a helper to my Dad.
I can be the kind of student
That every teacher loves to teach
Always on time for class
And using appropriate speech.
I can help her pass out papers
When she has things to pass around
(And maybe I can pass up
Being the class clown).
I can be nice to other kids
And help them when I can
And by being a nice person
I will always be in demand.
I can always have a kind word
And be honest in all things
Treating all those around me
As treasured human beings.
I can obey the Golden Rule
And treat others as I would like to be
And if I do all of the things
Doing my best in all I do and say
I will be making a difference

I love to hear when parents read poems and stories to kids at bedtime and quiet time. So I mix in some serious with the silly and try to include just some common sense things too.
