From the Window of my Ford

For just a couple of bucks
We could drive right through
And fill'er up!
We might get a glass, a plate or a steak knife as well
It was fun and only time would tell.
The men would stop and play checkers or Rook
While moms talked about kids or the latest cook book.
Quilting bees were planned and kids bought soda pop
To cool off a bit when the day was hot.
No credit cards but if the crops weren't in
You said "Write that down, please" until I have money again!"

Those were the days, back when a person's word was good enough. Sure do miss 'em. Great poem. Word.

Some people are still like that around here, helped me out when I was out of work without even having to ask. Only Ford pick ups for me!
