Little girl looks out the window,
As raindrops spatter the glass,
Her pig-tails bobbed on each side of her head,
Her blue eyes filled with silent tears,
As she watched the man disappear in the rain,
Confused as night begin to fall,
A little voice crying out.
I should have held on,
Just a little longer,
But it was hard to see past,
The fear tearing me inside,
The sounding rain held me back,
As I watched you walk out of my life,
Had I been stronger,
I might have been brave enough,
To know who I was,
She will love you more then I could,
She that dares to be, what I couldn't,
So I watch you fade in my memory.
The little girl clung to her teddy bear,
The drops falling down upon her pink dress,
Her eyes lifted up to the endless sky,
And she began to cry,
All she wanted was to be loved,
Not for what she'd done or what she could do,
She wanted someone,
To love her for who she was,
to hold her and cradle her.
I rocked back in my chair,
Watching the rain hit the patio,
Listening to the thunder crashing above,
I cried out to the storm's rage,
All I wanted was to be loved,
By someone who would love me for me,
Not for what I had done or what I've become
But who would love me no matter what.
The little girl felt His presence,
Surrounding her from all sides,
He picked her up and held her so tight,
He told her that He loved her for who she was,
Not for what she'd done, or what she'd become,
He loved her for who she was.
I could see Him come in,
His arms stretched out for me,
And I ran into His embrace,
For He told me He loved me,
Not for what I'd done or what I've become,
He loved me for me...
