PAST LIFE

Sometimes when you spend too much time in the past
You begin to wonder if life is gonna last.
We should learn from time gone by
Not to go back and live that lie.

Today and tomorrow is really what counts
We should enjoy every last ounce
We can’t change what’s gone by
Why do we continually try?

We act like if we don’t cling to our past
That we won’t have anything that lasts
If we live for today and tomorrow too
We won’t be so down and blue.

I like to live today as if I knew
God was due any time, how about you?
When I stand before God in the judgment line
I’ll say “they took Jesus’ life so I gave you mine”.

No matter what you say or do
You have to know Jesus died for you.
So give your past life a rest,
And just live now to do your best.

Wow! I think that' s my favorite poem of yours so far, both for the writing and the message. Living in the past can devastate one's life and you are so right. Being bitter and worrying over what happened in the past can cause one to miss out on the present.
