Daddy Why

Why is the sky not always blue

How do you always know

when I have the right foot

in the wrong shoe

 

How big is the biggest love

Why are pumpkins orange

and what are they made of

Why do baseball players

wear hats and use gloves

 

If I eat all my food

Will I grow big just like you

Are ghost really scary

And do they really say boo

 

What was the best thing

Before sliced bread

How come at 8 o'clock

I have to go to bed

 

And daddy who makes

the wind blow

The grass green

and the flowers grow

 

Is their really gold

at the end of the rainbow..

If their is how come 

 that little man never grows

 

Can we get a magic door

Just like the one at the parts store

And what are all screws

 in your tool box for

 

After all of his questions

I didn't know what to say

The day was still early

so we went out to play

 

that night when I thought

about what he had said

all the questions that

still must be in his head

 

I thought about what to tell him

to all the questions he had

I thought about it awhile

and here's what I said

 

life is full of question and answers

we would like to know

most of yours will

be answered as you grow

 

and as you get bigger you'll see

that all the answers

don't always come from daddy

 

I get them from this little book

I handed it to him ..

for him to take a look

when he sat it down

he look at me and said

not one picture

where are the answers dad

 

This is the story of the

greatest man who ever loved

when you read this book

you'll get your answers

even the one about the gloves

 

That man must have been something

this book is big and pretty thick

Its so heavy it feels like a brick

Then he picked it up

smiled and said

Until I can read

Ill just get my answers

from you dad
