As I See It
God does not fill dirty cups
Or cover excuses with Jesus’ blood
We must call sin --sin
Humble ourselves and begin again.
Lord, invade my heart
And fill my need--
This hunger that is mine,
For I will be dissatisfied
Until completely thine.
As the king of Ninevah
Covered himself with sackcloth
And sat in ashes as a sign
You will find inside of me, Dear Lord
Sackcloth on this heart of mine.
Lord, my heart is a cup
That I hold out to You
Longing for You to fill each day
Each time You pass my way.
Help me to keep my cup clean
Free from sin and all its stain
Let me die to self
To live for you
Let me be revived again.
Only God can forgive my sin
And with His spirit fill me up
But no matter what I ask of Him
He can’t fill a dirty cup.
