When I Was Young

There was a time when I was young and wild

Even though I was already God’s child.

I was lost in the world of sin

God kept knocking, but I wouldn’t let him in.



I thought I had plenty of time to redeem myself

So I just put God upon a shelf

I went upon my merry way

Sinning constantly every day.



I thought I was having lots of fun

But really I was having none

I really wanted to live it up

So I drank from every cup.



There was nothing I didn’t try

But God I did deny

He still loved me even then

He wanted me back in his arms again.



When I was close to a suicide death

He made me catch my breath

Now I am His for good or bad

“Lord, I sure am glad.”

Wow, powerful message. I could really feel your heart in that one. Great work. I especially like the little last line expressing your relief and thankfulness. Great ending.

We are all so glad and so thankful that you are a child of God willing to share your life and story with us all.
