*Written after watching a sailor in uniform bend over
to show a child how to hold the horn he was playing. He was
in line for the July 4th parade in Coronado.
The tallest man I ever saw
Was bent over to help a child.
Lord, bless the man who is not too proud
To stop in the middle of the crowd
And help a little one
Someone else's daughter or son...
I believe the Lord above
Must be overwhelmed with love
When he sees a man
Kind enough to kneel
To mend a kid's bike
Or fix a scooter's wheel.
There must be a special place
In God's Heaven above
For men who show the Father's love
And share with children who ask
How to do some kind of task.
How God's heart must have been blessed
To see a sailor's tenderness
As he stooped to show a child today
How to hold the horn to play.
God bless the man who is not too tall
To bend to help the smallest of us all.
Lord bless the man, young or old
Who never lets his heart grow too cold
to bend to help a child.
