Redemption: the Hard Way
An original poem by James Faulkner

The guillotine is falling, in seconds I’ll be redeemed.
I better start from the beginning so you’ll know exactly what I mean.

I always heard about Jesus, but I didn’t care.
Everywhere I turned; His name seemed to be there.

I even grew up in church; my dad was the Pastor.
My motto in life was: Go hard…go faster.

Church, God, and Jesus were crammed down my throat.
In my teenage angst, I cursed His name in gloat!

I never really got into that Jesus kick,
I didn’t care if I lived or died…I was in it thick.

But then, one day, it happened…they called it, “Rapture”.
Shortly after, it was all I could do to avoid capture.

I may have been stubborn in my past…but I did read “The Book”.
Oh, it happened exactly as it was written: panic, hunger, crying, and pain in every nook.

It was all there: one world government and the mark of the beast.
People being slain while the Officials feast.

Post-Rapture Salvation isn’t as simple as asking for forgiveness.
Now I have to die for Christ and for me, that task is tremendous.

It’s either die for Him or take the mark.
Prove my love, or forever from Him, my spirit will depart.

You see, when all the Christians left,
My life’s motto suddenly lost its depth.

I searched my heart to see what I truly believed.
I found the answer…so now I must bleed.

My only way out is to let them kill me.
I must now lay down my life, just as he did on Calvary.

So now I’m standing in line to die,
Waiting for a chance of redemption…I’m not even going to cry!

My Savior gave his life so that I may live.
Now as the guillotine falls, it’s my turn to give.

As it falls upon my neck, I can barely feel it.
Heavenly Father, into your hands, I commit my spirit.

Wow! Those are some powerful moving words. It is something to think about for those on the fence. Great work!

This one was very powerful. God would not let me sleep until I posted this on facebook. It's really deep and I could barely get through it without crying (I'm 5'10, 250 lbs, ex-military, ex-law enforcement, with several piercings and 46 tattoos), lol. When it comes to God...crying is definitely not a weakness.

And, I bet you're a big teddy bear too. It makes me feel proud to have a serviceman on my site. I sincerely thank you for your service to our country! May God Bless you in great ways.

I've been told that I'm a big teddy bear (who looks like a hardcore biker that served time in prison, lol).
