Holidays are an interesting time.
For some reminiscing about a happier time
Family and friends food and drink
Celebration could never seem bleak
Turkey and ham, grandma and even aunt pam
Soon the big man in red will come in the night
Bringing children nothing but Christmas delight.

During this time of great family love
Let us not forget those who do not get
Do not get to shop for their loved ones Christmas list.
The ones that are far, and not in warm quarters
The ones that celebrate while sitting in a trench
The ones that are thankful the gunfire has stopped
The ones dressed in camouflage to protect their next breath
The ones that carry rifles instead of holiday cheer
The ones that protect us from foreign fear

So as you gather your family this holiday season
Let us remember our chosen brothers and sisters
Let us give thanks for our loved ones service
Let us give thanks to these men and women
The ones who do battle while we celebrate Christmas
The ones who sleep in the desert while we sing Christmas carols.
The ones that clean weapons while we hang decorations
The ones that sweat, bleed, and cry while we celebrate Christmas time.

These are Americas soldier that serve without fear
Protecting our family’s without their own Christmas cheer
So don’t take for granted, this time of peace
Remember our soldiers and send them our love
Merry Christmas from all of us here at home
And may god bless you and everything you do

I have read all your poems you have posted they are great. I enjoy them thoroughly. I cannot help but wonder if I am right in sensing a little bit of suffering on your part. Not that your work is dark on the contrary it is very uplifting. I just feel like your theme was chosen for a purpose.
God Bless

This piece reminds me of one I wrote last Christmas for our troops.
I love how you wrote this, the sense of love and respect and the need to remember the service these wonderful men and women are paying for us, the sacrifices they've made for this country... the blood they bleed for our freedom. It is truly is a thing we must never take for granted. Thank you for writing this!

thanks for all the feedback. in regards to your senses, i would say that each of my pieces comes from the depths of my soul and directly reflect my journey through life....if that helps :)
