Resolutions

This year is over and what’s done is done

We can’t go back and change some things

We really wish we could

But we have a chance to start brand new

And try for a better year.

If you made resolutions last year

And never did follow through

Then are you going to do the same this year

And forget about them too?

What I decided was to not make resolutions

Just live each day brand new

And hope God will help me

Because His help is the only way I’ll make it through.

It doesn’t seem to matter what we resolve to do

We just never want to follow through

Sometimes its days, maybe a week or two

But then we just forget what we resolved to do.

I’m going to get up each morning and thank God for life

And ask His forgiveness for things I didn’t do right

I’m going to ask for blessings and hope I get those too

And pray for all the needy that don’t know Him as I do.

I’m going to give my day to God because it’s His anyway

And let Him tell me what He wants me to spend it doing

Then I’ll try to follow through and if I fail I’ll ask forgiveness

And just like this year I’ll start tomorrow brand new.
