Your Child, God's Blessing

I watched you as your nursed your newborn son
And snuggled him close to you.
He was not the "perfect" child you planned
What had God given you?
Where was the child that you dreamed of?
And what would happen to your dreams for him?
How does God choose the child for parents
That He would send to them?
Perhaps God looked into your heart
And saw something good and true
And knew that his beloved treasure
Would be safe with you.
We teach our children daily
All the things they need to know
But sometimes it takes a special child
To help us really grow.
A special child can teach us so much
And God counts them jewels in His plan
And only when you've been blessed by one
Can you begin to understand.
I believe that in God's plan
He searched the whole earth through
To find the perfect parents for this child
And decided to bless you.

A Prayer for My Special Child

Father, it is to you I humbly come
To thank you for my little one.
To others he may seem to have defects odd
But I realize that he is a gift from God.
If only part of this little one
Could be a replica of God's Son
I would not choose that outer part
But pray instead for a perfect heart.
I thank you for this special treasure
That you have sent our way
And ask that around this little one
You station Your guardian angels every day.
I know that he may have some trials
And many struggles to overcome
But I trust in your Dear God
To carry him through each one.
I confess that this is not the baby I pictured
That perfect baby that I had in my mind
But I will not worry or try to second guess
The hand of the Divine.
So I lift him up to You Dear Lord
And ask that every day
You touch and bless and comfort
For it is in Jesus' Name I pray.

I see pure joy in you every day
As you go about your sweet unassuming way.
Seeking naught but to love us
Such a precious angel you are
You are one in a million
Our tiny little shinning star.
You light up the room with your presence
And chase away any fear or doubt
You hold in your loving acceptance
The meaning to what life is all about.
Unwavering in your loyalty and devotion
You hold out your hands to touch each face
That holds for you a special meaning
And then wrap your arms around us in sweet embrace.
You have taught me more
Than you could ever know
As I watch you live and love and grow
And because of your pure and tender heart
At the end of my life's journey
I shall be a better person
Than I was at my journey's start.

My world is different
My view is from down low
I see things from a different perspective
Everywhere I go.
I see things while I'm sitting down
Or when I'm lying prone
But my heart sings and I have wings
When I'm all by myself alone.
In my imagination I run and skip
And see the world as you do
But during my waking hours
My legs restrict my view.
I'd like to see the world
From a taller and sturdier frame
And perhaps hear a softball coach
Call on me by name.
I'd like to stand on tippy toe
And perhaps someday I will
But for now I peek through life's bars
And view things while seated, still.
But my view is filled with awesome things
That sometimes you may not see
For sometimes a lower viewing spot
Is a very good place to be.
I love my view and love my world
And each day it will get better
For having family that loves me so much
Is what really truly matters!
