FORGIVE

FORGIVE

Looked up a word today.....
Used it often, in every way.

Each time I did, with good intent.
Didn't know what it really meant.

The word I sought was Forgive.
Thought it meant, live and let live.

Pardon......is all that it said.
At this I just scratched my head.

So I looked up Pardon, too.
Understand forgive all the way through.

Book said An excusing of offense.
To me this made little sense.

Missing I thought, most important part.
About the pain within one's heart.

That to forget, we're not inclined.
So why is this not defined....????

And all that stuff about "Goodwill".
It all seems such a bitter pill.

Saying the word should make it so.
"Why can't I just let it go?????"

The easy part-------"I Forgive".
So much harder to "Just let live."

Even though I've blackened my heart,
about forgive I am so smart.

I love the message in this little couplet poem. Forgiveness often trips us up. Nice work.

interesting piece, i find that forgiving is by far the easy part. its the black spot on my heart that takes the time to heal! thanks for sharing!!
