The Wind Sometimes Blows a Gale Empty
PostSubject: The Wind Sometimes Blows a Gale   The Wind Sometimes Blows a Gale EmptyTue May 01, 2012 8:35 am

He tempered the wind to the shorn lamb,*

But now that the lamb has grown full wool
The gale sweeps down to rend its coat away.
The more reason for that one oppressed to run
To the husbandry pen.
That place of protection, of care,
And of the healing of the Master.

Beautiful. Nice work! I'd say it's a full poem. Some very famous poetry is very short. For example:

"The Red Wheelbarrow" by William Carlos Williams

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.

"Fragment" a poem by Amy Lowell

What is poetry? Is it a mosaic
Of coloured stones which curiously are wrought
Into a pattern? Rather glass that's taught
By patient labor any hue to take
And glowing with a sumptuous splendor, make
Beauty a thing of awe; where sunbeams caught,
Transmuted fall in sheafs of rainbows fraught
With storied meaning for religion's sake.

This might sound familiar: "Fifteen Men on the Dead Man's Chest" by Robert Louis Stevenson

Fifteen men on the Dead Man's Chest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!

Thank you for these! I have googled them and wrote you a great long reply, but, alas, it disappeared when I pushed the BACK button. I will try to repeat it when I have more time.
Happy Mother's Day, new friend.
Blessings!

So much can be said in few words.
I'm trying to learn that art. :-)
