Mothers Day Poems and Stuff

So many years have passed since this photo was taken. It was taken as a lark on an outing somewhere.

I wonder if you ever thought about who would be looking at this photo 70 years later. If you had known how every little photo of you would be cherished if you would have had more photos taken.

I think of this when my daughter, your granddaughter takes a photo of me that I don't like and when I complain about how bad my hair is or how chubby I look. Wonder if someday someone will say " I wish she had had more photos taken..."

My Mother's Hands

My Mother had such lovely hands
Whose touch comforted me for years,
Wiped away fever from my brow,
And many childish tears.

My Mother had such gentle hands
Whose touch I remember every day.
I can still feel her tender touch,
Though she has gone away.

But though I cannot hold her hands
Nor feel them on my brow,
I know exactly where they are....
The Father holds them now....

Holding Your Hand (Mom’s Hand)

Time is short the doctor said
And so I sit beside your bed
And with love that is overwhelming
To a depth I scarcely knew I had
I hold on to your hand and rememberer
All the things that make me glad.
For this time though drenched in sadness
Brings back such a sweet memory
Of special tender times
When it was you who held on for me.
You held my hand in times of happiness
And in times of sadness too
And now it is my turn, Mom
To do the same for you.
I hold your sweet hand tenderly
Cradling it within my own
And will hold on to you
Until God takes you home.

Reflections

I have such reflections of the past
As I picture my Mother's face,
And the most tender loving feelings
Felt in her warm embrace...

Reflections in the mirror?
Yes, I see her there
In the lines upon my forehead
And the graying in my hair.

I see her in the hand
Outstretched in front of me.
Is that my hand I look at now
Or my mother's hand I see?

I hear my voice echo
Words I heard her say,
And her phases become more prominent
I seem to use them every day.

I don't really mind it-
That I look a bit like she did,
For she was my hero
From the time I was a kid.

And I heard her once in passing
A similar story share
That when she looked into her mirror....
She saw HER mother there....
