On this Memorial Day

There are so many remembering today
The date their loved ones went away
To join with others on foreign shore
To protect this land of ours once more.
So many whose husband, wife, child or kin
Left to serve their country
Never to return again.
Thank you is just not enough for us to say
As a grateful country on this Memorial day
But know that it comes from the depth
Of each grateful heart
Giving us at least a place to start
To show you our gratitude for your sacrifice
As we humbly say
Thank you to all who serve your country
On this Memorial Day
