The Water Bowl Empty
PostSubject: The Water Bowl   The Water Bowl EmptyThu Jun 14, 2012 1:43 pm

The creak of the wagon drew the crowd to its side
The crusty old potter walked along beside
A tired old horse with a dog in tow
What was this about, everyone wanted to know.

He set up shop in the shade of a tree
Set out some vessels for all to see
Brought out his wheel and started to work
On a piece of pottery, out of God's clay dirt.

As the people watched he began to tell
Of all His goodness, like Jacobs well
The abundance of knowledge the man did share
But then all of a sudden and with revernt care

He picked up a bowl that sat by his side
Water for the clay on the table that did ride
He smiled at the bowl, and spoke with such love
Of His heavenly Father that watched from above

And shared with the people that the water in the bowl
Made everything possible for him to work so
For without the precious water, the clay would be dry
Couldn't be worked, would be thrown by the sid

And shared with the people our lives are the same
Without God's living water, we would live in our shame
When at the end of time, and He comes for His own
We would be left behind, scared and all alone

So the bowl is a precious vessel, the water just as much
One needs the other, we need His touch
To work in our lives, each and every day
And be someone elses water, to help them on their way

Just an ordinary vessel, didn't take long to make
But, oh, so very important, another vessel is at stake
Don't take it lightly, what God asks you to do
Just smile in a mirror, look what He did with you.

My new favorite of yours. Going back to read it again.

The only solo I ever sang in church was "Have Thine Own Way Lord".

I just wrote this straight to the site, don't even have a hard copy yet. Tried to read it to my wife, and the impact of it came on me, and I bawled like a baby. God is so good and faithful.

Way to go to Preacher, really nice how you put the story together from the actual observation.

Beautiful narrative. Love the storytelling type of feel to this one. It reminds me of when Jesus walked the earth and told parables to crowds of people.

What a beautiful story. God wants us to be lights so we can shine His love to all we meet.

Well said, well written, well played. If it has the word "well" in front of it, it fits this poem. Love it. Word.
