when the river runs dry Empty
PostSubject: when the river runs dry   when the river runs dry EmptyFri Aug 03, 2012 2:07 pm

I was a...dead man walkin' with a tear in my eye
drowning in the world as my life passed by
Though now I live, truly alive, I fix my eyes to the sky
and I can't wait for the day when the river runs dry...

When I was young the river flowed, abundantly full
but as I grew older to the world I could start to feel its pull
It pulled me each and every way, but it mostly pulled me down
laughing uncontrollably as it watched me drown
I would fade away from youth, a time of innocence lost
and as I let the world influence me at any cost
I would always hear a whisper..."It's never too late..."
so now until the Lord takes me, gratefully I wait...

The river, the river...it was out of control
Creating its own path, suffocating my soul
Destroying those around me who dared stand in its way
Destroying those who loved me by always forcing them away
To this day I miss some friendships that I caused to go bad
but don't think I don't think about the times we had
YHWH is making me new as he dissipates the hate
and until the day he takes me, lovingly I wait...

I never could hear God until I learned to fear God
and at that point I truly knew that I want to be near God
I asked him to control the river as I became unsure
because the river is the blood I'd let become unpure
I had listened to the world and its taunting, wanting voice
and at my darkest hour the Lord offered me a choice;
"Empty yourself of the world, yes...leave the world behind"
"See by the Light, or continue walking blind"
"Dark is Hell's pathway...but oh, so bright is Heaven's gate"

and so until the day God takes me, obediently I wait...

I surrender today, Lord, to your glory most high
and ask I influence my own children to stay away from the world's lie
If not, I will kiss them on their lips as I sadly say goodbye
and pray they find The Way before their river runs dry...

You got skilz...no doubt!

especially liked the tenderness in this:
" I surrender today, Lord, to your glory most high
and ask I influence my own children to stay away from the world's lie
If not, I will kiss them on their lips as I sadly say goodbye
and pray they find The Way before their river runs dry
..."
