Grow up in a day

"Where's your mama at, kid?" "Aww, she passed away"

"How about your daddy?" "Well, I really couldn't say"

"What are you gonna do, where you gonna stay?"

"I'm gonna cry for a minute, and then I'll grow up in a day..."



Young child...so much pain in your eyes

Lost to the world and you don't even realize

how precious, special, and loved you truly are

Never let the rising sun become a shooting star

Don't fade away, don't disappear

Don't let your last moment be a reflection in a tear

Have hope, child, for this will not last

Never give up, and don't grow up too fast

Endure...and see the promise come alive

Sometimes we have to cry out in order to survive

for we get lost, feeling alone, in a world gone mad

If you're confused be confused, and if you're sad, be sad

but never surrender to what the world can generate

Don't let your mind be filled with anger, or your heart be filled with hate

When we grow to the world, it is the world we become

and we live our lives lost and we walk around numb

The world is oh, so real...we can see it, feel it, hear it

and it's screaming at us, enticing us, just to be near it

but listen to your Spirit, for it too is calling you

and it wants to change you, and fix you, and make you brand new

Empty yourself of the world as though you're breathing out your last breath

and feel everlasting life as it overcomes death...
