Softly

She walks so softly in the night
In each room to turn off the light
Each sleeping form doth she caress
Little birdies in their nests
Waiting until the break of day
So they can go out and play.
Tis so sweet that tender time
When all are safely gathered in
Away from worries of the day
And far from wickedness and sin.
It is a mother’s love we see
As she goes about her nightly task
Attending to each loved one’s needs
Before they ever ask.
