Think of You
I watch them as they pass in front of me
Hurrying, racing toward eternity
No idea what the next second will bring
Delight or disaster when the phone rings
And I wonder God, do they ever think of You
Do they know Jesus, that He loves them too
Do they know the pain and hurt He took
While hanging by nails on a cross of wood
I wonder God, do they ever think of You
I see no hope or joy, just worry and stress
Do they ever wonder if it’s for the best?
They work and speak to others all day
At night at home there’s nothing left to say
There’s no father for the children
There’s no husband for the wife
No mother’s soft voice to soothe the night.
Tired from working for needless things
But it can change when the door bell rings
I wonder God, do they look around and know
Only You can create and make things grow
The flowers, the clouds, the stars that shine
All point to you, God. Are they that blind?
Eternity’s forever, like a circle without end
Prepare for it or ignore it, but it will begin
Why search or strive when the answer’s plain
Our hope is in Jesus when we trust in His name
So why rush or hurry for the unknown ahead
And lie awake at night with thoughts of dread
Why hesitate and delay, then decide to wait?
God’s calling now, later could be too late
But news will come they never thought they’d hear
Then they realize the empty, wasted years
The unspoken thoughts, the words left unsaid
As part of their life has now left them dead
If they would only see the freedom You give
Then they would have the real reason to live
But they fight to separate Church from State
They walk away a winner--just to be enslaved
We never know when our end will be
That begins the beginning of eternity
The joy of God’s presence with love that surrounds
Or the dark pain of hell where loneliness abounds
This one thing I know, and the promise is true
After the judgment and when sentence is due
They will finally have time to think of You
