There are Some Friends Empty
PostSubject: There are Some Friends   There are Some Friends EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 5:02 pm

There are some folks
Who just by seeing their face
Seem to make our world a better place.
Some folks have such a smile
That we forget our troubles for awhile
When we see their happy grin
And we are able to start over again
At tasks we thought we could not complete
Until our friend we chanced to meet.
There are those whose hug is so healing
That we find our hearts we are revealing
To the one whose arms open wide
And wrap us so lovingly inside.
Lord God help me to be that friend
Blessing those whom You might send
Let me be that loving light
Always shining bold and bright
Directing those to you
who are lost in the night.

PostSubject: After the Breaking   There are Some Friends EmptyWed Feb 20, 2013 7:02 pm

Thena, the compassion comes after the breaking. Those who have simply breezed through life do not have the currency to pay into a healing. The flesh is disgusted with suffering, even in the Church. But with the great set-back comes new eyes and a new out-reaching.

I would like to recommend to you a book by Paul Billheimer entitled Destined for the Throne (Bethany House Publishers I think). Look at suffering and prayer. Look at them together. What is being accomplished in partnership with God in the fellowship of His sufferings?

Have I Seen?

Thena, it's a joy just to read your heart, laid out for all to see. The desire to be there for someone in need, what ever the need. To be available is the best gift we could offer a crying, dying world. Blessings

So sweet. I especially love the little prayer at the end. It is so Thena-esk wink :

Lord God help me to be that friend
Blessing those whom You might send
Let me be that loving light
Always shining bold and bright
Directing those to you
who are lost in the night.
