Ole Blue

My heart was filled with sadness
For Ole Blue was going away
A brand new owner was coming
Could be almost any day
More faithful than a dog
Much faster that a bicycle
Ole Blue has served me well
And she’s never once been fickle
Her complexion has age spots
And skin that’s old with wrinkles
Her shoes have seen better days
But at night her eyes still twinkle
She isn’t much to look at now
But to me she is still a star
I just don’t want to sell Ole Blue
Because she was my first new car.

I love the punch line, I laughed. I couldn't figure out the riddle until the end. What a clever little poem! Great work.

Loved this, but couldn't help thinking what if it ended with: What is it ?
And took a poll to see what other's perceptions were.
Could've anything, any creature comfort that one becomes attached to.

Reminds me of one I did about my favorite robe -you know the ones that were floor length, purple and with a pink insert all the way down the middle and they Zipped up?
I was teasing hubby right after we went to see La bohème (where the man sells his overcoat to pay meds for his lover and he sings to the coat) So, when I was packing my housecoat for Goodwill, I sang to it for hubby. LOL

Funny...the San Diego opera never called me... LOL
