Over-riding Affection

Over-riding Affection Weistling-refuge-strength

Two  old friends were enjoying mid-day over a hamburg platter. It was a weekly thing.

“I tellya Chuck I have thought on and off all week about our discussion last time. Jesus walking across the waters to his friends in trouble in the boat. And Peter taking Him up on His call to ‘Come’ and walk as well.”

“Yep there is no troubled situation beyond His awareness and availability. If we look to Him, miraculous things might just take place.”

“And you know Chuck it seemed that throughout the week if ever I thought back to that scene, no matter what I was doing, a strange kind of peace would come. I liked that. I needed that.”

Chuck paused for a moment, and just smiled. “Steve, I guess we are learning a little bit more how love never fails. Every time we focus on the great deeds and words and character of the Lord, we are feeding a love for Him. And that in itself brings victory.”

Steve smiled and looked toward a young couple coming in the front door. “Remember how we used to be so busy and pre-occupied in the earlier days. Family. Job. Hobbies. Never seemed to be time to stop and just think. Always a rush. Almost always an absence of peace. And the answer was right there all the time.”
