If...


If I have a bad day
Let me make someone else's day better
And not be bitter about mine...
There's just not time...
If someone hurts me
Don't let me strike out at someone else
And cause them hurt
But let me try to prevent this hurt
From happening again and again
To those I call friend.
Let me have the courage to stand up
For my convictions and stay strong
When others may speak against me
Or may take my words wrong.
If there is controversy let me speak
Only when there is a need
For what I have to say and share
And let my words be wise and fair.
Not adding fuel to the flame
Or getting involved in a hurtful game.
And let my love always shine through
In everything I say and do.
For there is worth in everyone
Those with whom I agree and disagree
And it is my prayer that they too
Will see that there is worth in me.

It is so important to not let evil spread and to make sure it stops at us, yet this is one of the more difficult things to master as a Christian. I used to be an angry, rebellious young lady, and I was usually the one spreading strife. Now, with the light of Jesus in my heart, I am much more aware of my attitude, behavior, and feelings, and how those who know I am a Christian are watching me carefully. Thankfully, my Father in Heaven gives me the strength to withstand most of the time. (We all take a misstep once in a while) Thank you for reminding me Thena, your light shines so bright it fills my heart with joy.
