Today, commemorates the 41st anniversary of the legalized slaughter of unborn human life.  Hundreds of thousands of pro-life Americans descended on our nation’s Capitol today for the annual “March for Life” to mourn the loss of over 56 million lives and renew our collective resolve to defend life.
The leader of the abortion industry came out swinging today.  Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, after praising Roe v. Wade’s perpetuation of abortion, snidely quipped, “Meanwhile, some Republican leaders continue to stand with a small, yet vocal fringe of individuals dead set on turning back the clock on safe and legal abortion access in America.”
The abortion industry has caused the death of countless millions of children, yet pro-lifers are the ones who are “dead set.”   Should we be surprised at this statement coming from the industrialized culture of death?
I don’t for a minute believe it was inartfully worded.  It was direct and intentional.  It was as intentional as New York Governor Cuomo saying that pro-lifers “have no place” in his state or Texas Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis stating that her pro-life paraplegic opponent “never walked a mile in my shoes.”
The callousness of the culture of death is a cold heartless dogma.
The American people have long supported life over death.  Today, a majority of Americans are pro-life and support for abortion has hit its lowest levels in years.
Despite President Obama’s statement today standing behind Roe and all it stands for, his closing line is exactly correct: “Because this is a country where everyone deserves the same freedom and opportunities to fulfill their dreams.”
That is precisely what we are “dead set” on, giving “everyone,” including the most vulnerable in our society, the opportunity to fulfill the American dream – the opportunity to live.
