God's Amazing Honey Bees
To one hundred flowers
on each collection trip,
A bee can fly six miles
getting that pollen to sip
They use the rich, pure food
to eat and make their honey
In doing so for men,
make farmers lots of money.
They also eat it, too,
Working hard to earn their worth
For just one pound, they fly
like three times around the earth! Poet’s note: that’s ninety thousand miles!
Their honey is so rich
Just one ounce can fuel their flight
‘Round the whole world once, yet,
You can eat it when you diet.
Ever been as busy
as a bee? Probably not.
To one hundred flowers
On just one collection jaunt.
Tiny bee wings flap more
than eleven thousand times
each minute they’re in flight.
I don’t know how high one climbs.
All that flapping they do -
that’s the buzzing sound we hear.
Whenever a little bee
Might fly right beside our ear.
Honey bees’ barbed stingers
Have a vicious venom sack
Those allergic go in
To anaphylaxis shock.
If it stings you, it dies
Within minutes from the act -
Only the honey bees do.
