The first spike driven brought a tear to Christ's eye
and out of his mouth came the first word..."I"...
Spike number two, pain like I'd never dream of
As the Lord mouthed the second word, the crowd heard..."love"...
Angels screamed as the third spike was driven through
and from the lips of my Savior came the final word..."you"...
Why would Jesus pay my due
Three spikes, three words..."I...love...you"...
Death couldn't still the breath of the King of Kingsbecause I've got a big God who does big things
and when I write another chapter of my lifelong story
each and every time I'm here to rhyme God's glory
Memento mori...I must remember that I will die
but until that day I pray that life not pass me by
Why did I stop living before my time to arrive
Every body dies, but not everybody's alive
Everyone lives until we leave through death's door
and what we're living for becomes what's worth dying for
I will fly amongst the angels as the multitude sings
because I've got a big God who does big things
An outcast in the past who once brought only sorrow
now writes historical stories, recites visions of tomorrow
Divisions meant to separate creating a whole
One heart, one mind, one body, one soul
I was living in oblivion of who I truly was
until Jesus cried and died with me...just because
because he loves me now just as he loved me then
and there's only one way out...born again
I will feel no pain, though death's cold kiss stings
because I've got a big God who does big things
Count these as "see you later" letters inked in tears so true
I can't hang around forever, kid...I'm just passing through
I'm on my way to the day that lays in wait
for on that day I have a date through the beautiful gate
The weight of this world used to be so much
until I heard God's whisper and I felt his touch
There is no fiction in crucifixion, God's Word is true
and I only write these rhymes because I care...about...you...
If you don't believe I do believe you will believe and spread your wings
because I've got a big God who does big things...
