How do we get rid of the garbage. Take captive our thoughts. The world influences us daily. It can wear on us. Are you filling your life with things that do not please God. Don't get tempted by stuff.
Watch your thoughts for they become your words, watch your words for they become your actions, watch your actions for they become habits, watch your habits because they become your character, watch your character for it will become your destiny (Martha Thatcher). Thoughts start on the inside, we need to be aware. If we react to sin every time it becomes a pathway to destruction. Renew your mind.
Renewing our mind while spending time with God. Getting into the word is what changes you. Do not do it out of obligation but to help change and renew the mind. The word will change your life.

What step do you need to take to help your walk with god be better. Loving god is obeying god. Delayed obedience is a form of disobedience. What is the next step for you to be obedient. Stop fighting. Less of self, more of Christ. Being filled by god makes it less about us and more about him. What needs do you see god wanting you to meet. What do you believe god wants to do in your life. Are you giving glory to god. Look forward to eternity with god. God does the heavy lifting however coming to him allows our burdens to be light.
