| As I stood in front of the Lord,
My head was hung in shame.
He told me to raise my head
As He called me by my name.
I glanced at Him with a bowed head,
And said “but Lord, I am poor”
He said “but I love you anyway”
As I looked upon the floor.
I was still standing with head bowed
When I said “but Master, I am ugly and old”
That’s when he stretched out his arm
And gave me his hand to hold.
I looked at his hand
And did not want to see
The holes that were there
So I fell to bended knee.
I still kneeled with head hung in shame
And said “but Lord, I have been discriminated against for all these things.
He said “you are not alone in that my child
But that is not what my love brings”.
Raise you head up proudly
And be humble as you look them in the eye
Tell them you are a child of mine
And you have something all their money cannot buy.
For I will love you always
As I have for so very long
So do as you know I would
And in my love stand strong. |
