Sojourner
(revised)

Faithful Job,
like none other,
a hedge surrounds you.
He couldn’t touch you,
without The Lord's consent.

But nonetheless,
on that fateful day,
presented himself,
among the Sons of God.

Lukewarm Laodicea,
Spat out.

A homeless old Woman with matted hair,
festering boils on her hands and face.
who reeked of
vomit and urine,
arrived late and bowing Her head,
timidly took a seat in the furthest corner,
of the last pew.
Everyone slowly turned around to look,
but quickly,
looked away.

Those seated next to her,
well groomed,
finely attired,
slowly arose and silently withdrew.

Undaunted,
continued their ritual.
A hesitant polite wave,
substituted for a sign of peace,
from a safe distance.

The collection plate stopped short of Her,
assumptions made.
Two coins in her hand,
it was all She had,
there remained.

Announcements were made,
when services were over,
volunteers were needed,
so much work to do.

When the congregation was dismissed,
a kind Sister approached her and said:
“We have coffee and donuts
being served in the hall next door,
would you care for some M’aam?”

For the first time,
Since She arrived,
The Old Woman raised her head,
gazed upon her for a long soulful moment,
Her lips never moved,
they didn't have to,
everything about Her spoke;

“Do you know,
Who,
I AM ?”

Call 911, 'cause my brotha is on fire, yo! Fantastic! I can absolutely relate. To this day I can remember my mom bringin' us to Mass and every Sunday it was the same thing; people moving over, way over, because we were, I don't know, a little dirty, probably. We were really, really poor, so me and my little brothers' Sunday's Best outfit was also our Saturday's Play outfit. Sometimes my mom was sober, sometimes not so much. Thinking back on it right now actually cracks me up. Those were great days. No doubt.

love you bro',
God Bless.

This story was related to me by a catholic nun (former-for 20 years), she is also my sister and mentor in many ways. it was her personal (encounter) experience retold in poetic form. never forgot it.

Beautiful message. People are so quick to judge but there is only one judge.

We went one time to look for a car and did not wear our finest. One salesman was walking out to us and saw how we were dressed and turned around and went back in and sent out someone else. I have always thought how nice it would have been if we could have paid cash right then and bought a car from that salesman.

I know how I felt that day and I cannot imagine how sad God is when we reject someone.

One of God's little ones; in fact the Lord Jesus in spirit checking out the charity quotient of this assembly, well into being a place for the hanging out of odious respecters of persons. The I am caught them dead in their stylish tracks. The blessing lost. The scales covering a little more of the eyes.

Matthew 25:35
"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,"
Job 31:32
"but no stranger had to spend the night in the street, for my door was always open to the traveler"
Isaiah 58:70
Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
Romans 12:13
"Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality."
James 2:16
"If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?"
Hebrews 13:2
"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."
