So...theoretically I retired from school teaching three years ago. I have found myself working two days a week as a chaplain at the school I taught at for many years. What do I do the other days? A bit of housework is necessary, proofreading church newsletters is appreciated, coffees with friends and relatives is enjoyed, home group studies and church policy documentation is service... and writing.
I have been writing hobby-wise for over twelve years-mainly fiction, some apologetics and a few devotions. I have two brothers who read my material enthusiastically (they say) and so I thought I'd broaden my audience. I can't help thinking that providing one chapter of a novel could be very frustrating to the reader so I'm open to suggestions for delivering the complete narratives.
I am averse to self publishing. It may be my Dutch heritage-I'm a tight wad- or it could be that I have heard it referred to as 'vanity publishing' and I'm probably too proud to consider myself vain! And anyway, the pleasure I get from writing and reading my own material, constantly editing it, is satisfying in itself. Perhaps I'm a bit narcissistic too.
