 Intermission 624

There’s a time for one to settle
In a place of lone reflection
And to re-arrange the values
With the true
And it won’t abide the clamour
Of the honking or the hammer
And it’s calling to the high place
Calling you.
Simple bird songs at a stream-side
Blasting breezes on the hillock
Chilling dews that raise the dreamer
Out of sleep
As the eagle top the mountain
Fasts and preens his harsh renewal
Such an urgent tryst with God, yes
That I’ll keep.
And I’ll render no accounting
For some worldly dues a-mounting
And no pointless explanation
To the fool
Who sees mammon as the heartbeat
Men’s approval guiding his feet
Deaf and dumb to beauty’s standard
As the rule.

The funny thing is, you don't have to go anywhere to get to there...by the time you have that revelation, your feet are swollen and you are breathing hard...yet rejoicing and laughing through all the labored breaths. And the birds..? They seem bemused and eye you quizzically.

As if saying: "didn't you know that the Master made His 'Shalom' effortless?"
