Provocative Non Violence Empty
PostSubject: Provocative Non Violence   Provocative Non Violence EmptySat Sep 23, 2017 10:18 pm

He came to us in power, born on a pile of hay
The invisible became visible and he grew in his own way
The king who stooped to serve us, was a carpenter by trade
But His angelic army was the greatest ever made
He taught what seemed impossible to love your foes and pray
And then He taught us how to turn our cheek the other way
Not striking back in violence not turning to run away
Provocative non violence as the way to win the day

When Ghandi read the bible, Mathew chapter five
He said I’ll take these words of His and make them come alive
On a train in South Africa a lesson he was taught
He paid and sat in first class, they said oh no you’re not
They beat him, bruised him, threw him out, he said you have no right
Of course we do they pointed out, you’re brown and we are white
Shivering cold, in the dark of night and fearing for his life
Pondering the way to go and which one would be right

He gathered the Indian people, three thousand in a day
In Johannesburg they took a vow, non violence was the way
And if they should arrest us, and bind or harm or kill
With God and faith to hold us, they cannot break our will
White repression did increase and the world began to see
The oppression and the suffering and the lack of dignity
Then Ghandi took five thousand more and marched out in protest
Was time to see whose power, truly was the best

The African government caved and the Indians claimed a win
And the power of God’s Holy word, came shining through again
Segregation laws were lifted and the prisoners were released
As new laws were enacted, their freedom did increase

If you had the time I’d tell you about Martin Luther King, who
Combined his dream with Scripture and accomplished the same thing
Pope John Paul two, he had a clue and knew just what to do
In Victory Square met the communist there and yes, they crumbled too

He taught what seemed impossible to love your foes and pray
And then He taught us how to turn our cheek the other way
Not striking back in violence not turning to run away
Provocative non violence as the way to win the day
