This was said of Jesus by one of the thieves beside Him at Calvary. What must it have meant to the unsung hero of gentleness, healing and promise?

Hypocritical religion and mob mentality all around cursing, mocking and slandering.

But one man, and he a condemned felon, had responded perhaps unwittingly to the messages of salvation offered by John the Baptist and Jesus and His disciples. 'Repent. Believe the Gospel. Do works meet for repentance. Recognize that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.'

Nothing amiss. It was as if the thief had performed the seasonal priestly role of examining and declaring that the sacrificial Lamb had no blemishes, fractures, defects or irregularities. Indeed this One was the Candidate suitable for propitiation of sin once and for all (Hebrews 9).

Nothing amiss. The thief had been purged of wrongdoings and wrong thoughts by faith and a good confession. Paradise was in the wings. Jesus had said “This day you shall be with me in Paradise”. This puts the lie to the Romish deception of purgatory. This affirms that the greatest of Heavenly blessings is to be with the Master in the place that delights His nature and blood-bought family. Singing and serving and studying.
