Ken,
I will address the book of Hebrews first. The writers translating the book of Hebrews have some wrong definitions used that change the understanding of what the author is conveying. Example: in Hebrews 7:12 the word “change” doesn’t mean change, and by a word study you’ll find that the word means “transfer”. The Law of God transferred to Jesus from the earthly priests, and not that the Law changed (The priesthood changed). When the translators teach about the New Covenant they changed God’s definition (Original Hebrew) to one that contradicts all the rest of God’s Word. God never changes and therefore the word definitions don’t change from the Old Testament to the New Testament either. The reason we are to “study to show ourselves approved to God” is to discover God by His Living Word for ourselves by His Spirit, secondly it is to make sure those translating or teaching don’t change who God has always been (Acts 17:11). This is done by putting scriptures from different places in the Bible together to support the specific teaching/s being studied. There are more wrong translations in other books in the New Testament that change what God has shown from the beginning of time about His character and His desire (How to love God) for His people. In recent time man has changed the character of God and how His people are to love Him.

You wrote: Explain to me your definition of grace just in plain English, not the Strong's full definition.  I understand that you don't believe grace is God's unmerited favor but I am not clear on how you define grace and what its function is in salvation.

Me: Our faith accesses God’s Grace. (Rom. 5:2, and Eph. 2:8 …for by Grace you are saved through faith...  Perfect Faith (Jas 2:22) accesses Grace. Grace is the benefit of God for one’s faithfulness (Obedience). This is proven throughout the Word.

You wrote: Explain to me how you are forgiven of sin and reconciled to God (saved, born again, etc.).

Me: Numerous scriptures tell us repeatedly “not to sin”. This is our Faith (Moral Conviction?), and when we choose to live a moral life by God's standards we show we are with God and not against Him. The Word tells us in many places that this isn’t difficult, and it's actually a harder life when we choose to sin. We can go a very long time without sinning (Those who walk in the Spirit daily), and when we sin we have an advocate (Jesus) that will “again” forgive us, IF we truly repent of that sin, and as His Word teaches, “do works worthy of repentance” (Acts 26:20). As the Word shows many times, when you ask for forgiveness we’re told “go and sin no more, or stop sinning”. Shall you continue in sin that Grace may abound? God forbids! Meaning it’s not allowed.

You wrote: From what I previously understood and I could be wrong, you believe that your sins are only forgiven up to the point of salvation.  But I don't understand what happens after that.  What happens when you sin after you have been saved?  Do you lose your salvation?  If so how do you get it back?  Or do you believe that the truly saved do not sin after they are saved?  As you can see I have no understanding particularly on this issue.

Me: All our sins have been forgiven forever, but if we willfully sin there’s no more a sacrifice (Jesus and what He did for us on the cross) for sin, which puts one back under the Law. Therefore all our sins have been forgiven, unless we willfully choose by our free will to sin, which is where “True Repentance” must be made by the believer to again be reconciled to God. If one doesn’t repent then their names will be blotted out of the Book of Life (Rev. 3:5). We aren’t eternally saved when our names are written in the Book of Life; we are only sealed there until the day of judgment/redemption. Where “the books” (Our works) will be opened, and the names of those who are written in the “Book of Life”, who made a covenant with God, and “Overcome” to the end (Life, or Blood Covenant) will be clothed in white raiment where Jesus will confess their name before the Father and the Angel’s, or have their names blotted out.
We are held to a standard, and commanded by God to love Him. Our obedience to His Law/Word proves our love and illustrates our salvation.

In summary:
Salvation comes by a life commitment to live as Jesus (The Word) lived until our lives are over ("It is finished"). It’s a daily walk of choice to choose to obey God or eventually starve to death (Parable of the seeds) spiritually. The birth process (Born from above) doesn’t change anyone by a single prayer at a moment in time, but a life devoted to studying His Word and living it in your life daily. We are told by the Word to put on the wedding garments, the armor of God, the Word of God… and this is done by devoting our whole life daily to Jesus (The Word). Birth being just a start of a life. If we stop drinking the “Water of Life” we will die (Spiritually), just as many N.T. parables teach. The Law put into everyone’s heart is our knowledge of sin, by His Law (Holy Spirit convicting us). By choice we either, do as required by the Word, and take our thoughts captive, so sin won’t manifest in our lives, or excuse the working of the Spirit and sin against God. Please look at just one example in Luke 15.

The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)
Jesus said twice that the son who left the Father was dead and lost. That son wasn’t physically dead and lost, he was spiritually Dead and Lost! As long as he stayed with his Father as a faithful son (Believer), he would not have lost his inheritance (Eternal Life). You have to remember the son was with his Father (God). Showing he was someone who was a “son of God”. He left his Father and lost his inheritance. If he had not realized later that his Father had servants with more than enough food (Word of God) to spare, and convince himself to go back, he would have died a spiritual death. When he returned to his Father the Father (God) said two things (Once again when it’s repeated twice it’s HIGHLY emphasizing the point to be made) he is alive and found. Not referring to physically alive and found, but spiritually alive and found.
How do I know this?
1) The Father ran, fell on his neck, and kissed him. God’s joy, of one who could have been eternally lost, but now is found. One who was dead (Without the Holy Spirit any longer), but now is alive.
2) Repentance was “REQUIRED”, to be reconciled to the Father. …Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
3) He was then clothed in “Righteousness” Luk 15:22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
4) They then killed the fatted calf (As in a marriage feast) to show the reunion of the Father to the son.  Luk 15:23  And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Luk 15:24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

This and all of Luke 15 and most other parables are proof that once you have known the Father (The Way/”In His House”) and choose to leave Him, and sin against Him (Squandering your inheritance, "eternal life") you become Spiritually Dead and Lost to God! This proves we can and do break covenant with God. This also proves “once saved always saved as false”, and is a new doctrine that was never taught until recent times.

                         God Bless! Sincerely, Ron Evartt
