There is so much confusion in the world over religious beliefs due to a lack of
knowledge of God's word, the Bible. There are more than 600 different
denominational churches all with different doctrines, beliefs, and
teachings. Confronted by so many different conflicting doctrines of
religion people are confused. They don’t know what to believe. Eternity is
a serious question that everyone must grapple with. Anyone who is interested in
his or her soul’s salvation cannot afford to follow any of the many false
doctrines. So, how do we know what is the truth?
The Bible has
withstood the test of time. (See Evidence for
God). It is God’s love letter to us. It reveals to us a God who is
both just and loving:
For God so loved the world that he gave
his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but to save the world through him. John 3: 16-17
Jesus is the only Son of God that these scriptures speak of.
He is the key that unlocks our access to God:
Jesus
answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me.” John 14:6
Because
God is a Perfect and Just God, we have a problem, a sin problem. Our sins separate us from God:
But your iniquities have separated you from
your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that he will not hear.
Isaiah 59:2
There is not an
accountable person living or who has ever lived (except Jesus), who can say
that he or she has never sinned. We are all in need of salvation:
For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God. Romans 3:23
If we say we have no sin, we deceive
ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8
We try to rationalize
away what God says when we say we have not sinned, but God says that man
has a sin problem:
For the wages of sin is death; but the
gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
Death is a
separation. When we die physically, our spirit is separated from our body
and goes back to God who gave it.
Then the dust will return to the earth as it
was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. Ecclesiastes 12:7
However, in Romans
6:23, we saw that, "For the wages of sin is death." This is a
spiritual death, which is eternal separation from God for those who have rejected Jesus' gift of salvation. This leaves only one
place for them to go, Hell. We see Hell spoken of as the second death. The
second death is eternal separation from God.
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile,
the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the
idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning
sulfur. This is the second death. Revelation 21: 8
God is Perfect, Just, and Holy. He is our creator and the
creator of the heavens and the earth. We cannot earn our way into Heaven, and
God is under no obligation to accept us, forgive us, or make a way for us
to be saved. This is especially true when we look at how sinful our lives are
compared to Gods perfect requirement of NO sin. Do not be deceived, the
Bible is clear that Gods standard for us is not other sinful people who we
might consider worse sinners than ourselves. Yet regardless of our sin and
rebellious nature, God still loves us:
For
I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for
welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you
will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will
seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
He has made a way to be saved for all who will choose to repent and humble
themselves. Acceptance of Jesus sacrifice, His payment for our sins, is the
only way that satisfies God’s Just Nature and creates a way for us to
be saved. Jesus willingly offered Himself in our place, to
pay for our sins. Taking upon Himself our deserved punishment so we could
be forgiven. Jesus is the bridge to eternal life:
But God demonstrates his own love for us in
this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
What
does the Bible say about how to obtain this gift of salvation?
For “everyone who
calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13
because, if you
confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one
believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Romans 10:9,10
These verses are quite clear
and you should now realize that your salvation rests in your decision. If you
desire to confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God
raised Jesus from the dead, the Bible is very clear, you
will be saved. If this is your desire, cry out to God
right now.
The sacrifices God desires are a humble
spirit--O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject. Psalm 51:17
Are You Ready To Receive Jesus Christ As Your Lord and Savior?
Confess that you are a sinner. Repent (turn from your own ways and trust God).
We have included a small prayer next but the words are not as important as your
heart. The Bible speaks of our relationship with God as a marriage and we have
been the unfaithful partner. Consider what you might say to a your spouse or
best friend if you wanted them back after rejecting them and being unfaithful.
Just cry out from your heart right now, Pray to God to have the Spirit of His
son, Jesus Christ, come dwell inside your heart. And with that, you can receive
the gift of God’s grace and a promise of life spent in heaven after your life
here on earth. Here is a simple prayer you can say to receive Christ:
“Father, I confess that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ
died for my sins on the cross and was raised for my justification. I do now
receive and confess Him as my personal Savior.”
If you prayed that prayer with a sincere heart, you are now a child of God. We
encourage you to prayerfully seek a local church that will assist you in
growing as a new Christian by the clear teaching of the Bible.
