| Many years ago, there was an Indian brave out on a long hunting expedition. One day, as he walked along a cliff, tracking a buffalo, he came upon an eagle's nest. He picked up the egg and found that it was still warm. "Where did it come from?", he wondered. As he looked around, he could barely see a nest high on the cliff over his head, but there was no way he could reach the nest. The Indian brave continued down the path. What should he do with the egg? Should he eat it for lunch? Just as he was stopping for lunch he saw a prairie chickens' nest with several eggs. The young brave, loving all animals, and especially the sacred eagle, decided to put the eagle egg into the nest. Time passed and the eagle hatched with the other eggs in the nest. The eagle ate worms and grubs and lived just like all the other prairie chickens. He rarely flew, as prairie chickens do not fly.
One day, the young eagle saw something flying high overhead. He watched in wonder and wished he could fly high in the sky just like the birds he saw. For many days the young eagle watched the birds high overhead. His heart ached to fligh high in the sky. Finally, he asked his prairie chicken brothers, "How can they fly up there while we are down here eating worms and grubs?" The prairie chickens answered, "They are the eagles. They can do that and we must stay down here."
So the eagle spent the rest of his life flying very little and eating worms and grubs. He never tested his wings and soared with the eagles just because the prairie chickens told him he had to stay on the ground.
The moral of the story is, "If you really want to do or become something in your life, listen to your heart and try. Don't just listen to the prairie chickens."
Are you a prairie chicken? Or will you listen to your heart and fly with the eagles?

| I am a humming bird. The world says I can't fly, but I fly anyway. Thanks LORD. |

| Sometimes I feel like a prairie chicken trying to be an eagle. Does that count? |
