Everyone needs a Friend Like You

Every time I think about
The things we love to do
I think about the fun I’ve had
In having a friend like you

We have laughed together-
Laughed until we’ve cried-
And we’ve been sad together
Over loved ones who have died.

We have gone on trips together-
Figured out how much to tip together-
And if we had been younger-
We would have done somersaults and flips together!

But since we are getting older
There are certain things we can’t do
But everyday I’m proud to say
Everyone needs a friend like you!

What is cool is when hubbies are friends together too. I have been blessed with friends who have been married a long time and who enjoy each other's company.

That is a double blessing and much to cherish. Love this stanza:

Awe, thank you Miss Cleo, but I can't take the credit for that one. Oneagleswings was the mastermind behind the word play. He can be so witty and funny.

As much I read poetry, I have been tempted to write it. I'm not sure why, but I actually feel a little frightened to attempt it. Maybe there's a little self doubt hidden in there. I did write a poem for my son once using all of his spelling words. It was fun.
