Washed Clean

Early morning cloudy skies
Give way to pounding rain
The raindrops slam into the ground
And magnify the pain
Gusting winds beat the window
And fallen leaves swirl about
The way they're dancing back and forth
Depicts the notion of doubt
A dark, dismal, depressing start
To another miserable day
Just as I hang my head to cry
I feel the first warm ray
The sun shines gently through the pane
And dries the tears on my face
My spirit is cleansed from head to toe
Through the gift that some call grace
Soul uplifted and finally free
This feeling is almost divine
I wish I could bask in this glory forever
And never be left behind
The day began gray and nasty
My heart was heavy and sad
But the instant you bathed me with your smile
Was the greatest that I've ever had
