Mud bred nymph waves goodbye
and creeps up a lily stem
into the light
promises to return
if the rumors are true...
if there really is
a promised land
up there

Above the shimmer her wings unfurl
with lotus petals
Fresh sunlight whispers
a higher calling
inconceivable
down there

Dragonflies keep trying to explain
nonetheless
in surface tension
