Gone to Heaven

My friend has gone to Heaven
There to wait for me
I hope He saves a real good place
For me to spend eternity.

He’s been gone a long, long time
I hope He still remembers me
I am the one longing to be free
To soar high above the earth with angels wings.

My friend is my Savior
He came back once before
Now He lives in Heaven
But He will be back once more

He was God’s only son who was sent to Earth before
To save mankind from his sin
This time He will stay a while and reign as King of Kings
And we will live along side Him and sing the songs He sings

His mother’s name was Mary but His father’s name was God
Mary was the wife of Joseph who was a carpenter
Jesus was the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven above
To die upon the cross so that all of us may live

He had to go back to Heaven
There to wait for us
When God gives the signal
He’ll come back again and take us home with Him.

In Heaven there are many mansions
One of which is mine
Which one it will be
I will know in time.

He promised to prepare a place for me
And I believe His word
It’s written in the Holy Bible
He has spoken and I have heard.

I’m waiting now to leave
I don’t think it will be too long
I will be with my Savior
Right where I belong.

Love the way you're mixing it up now. The mingling of free verse and rhyme is a nice touch. I also love the little surprise in the message. I thought this was going to be an elegy to one that was lost. Instead, it was a joyful message of what is to come. Great work!
