Being Old Takes Up a Lot of Time!

Being old takes up a lot more time than one would think. For instance the simple act of shopping has to be carefully choreographed.

First of all one must choose the proper shopping attire, something with an elastic waist is always good, but not so stretchy that when you get up quickly it doesn't! In case this happens, one must be quick with a purse or shopping bag to cover any offending view of flesh.

One must try to purchase as many items at eye level as possible because even if one can stoop down to the floor level shelves, it is not always possible to return to a standing position without help. It is rather embarrassing to get on all fours and push oneself back up-don't ask me how I know!

Grooming is a bit different for older folks since wild hairs have a way of appearing boldly and proudly overnight or even instantly at times! They must be either plucked or waxed or shaved with frequency to discourage them. Don't feel badly that the hair on your head is thinner
-the new abundance of hair on your aging chin will more than make up for it.

The Boomer's choice of car must be one that has enough room for an expanding body but equipped with things to accommodate steady loss of sight and other reflexes.

But the best thing about being a Boomer is that what you can't do today, you can start on again tomorrow!

I'm already experiences the grooming difficulties. I just love your humor!

Every week my wife and I take her mom shopping, as she slowly ambles along in slow realization I soften as I begin to realize this is my future. :dingy:

Awe, it's not so bad freely. There's all kinds of great things that come with getting older. At least that's what my mother says. LOL. Grand kids, retirement with your spouse, etc.

i see...i shall have to purchase a rather large purse to hold over my lower back when i bend over to reach the bottom shelf. i've been telling other shoppers that i was the plumber on call trying to locate a reported leak in the store.
anytime i'm caught accidentally flashing a vertical smile, i tell em' i'm a plumber and they totally understand "oh, well in that case, that's quite alright". and...i try not to let people catch me "fraughting" over it too much!

you know...that doesn't even hurt anymore, i'm used to it, it's when i stop taking hits to the head that i think something's wrong.

there's always the one in the group who just has to "fraught" and ruin the moment! ...brrrttzzz-fffffttt!! ...s'cuse me pleez, "taco bell"!
