Tearing Down the Crosses

It only takes one voice of dissent
To take down a cross
For what it meant
Offends those who don’t believe
And matters not it comforts
Those for whom the loved ones grieve.
“Have something that is equal for all!” they proclaim
Amid signs and protests that bring pain
To those for whom the crosses signify
A greater love they can’t deny.
But what about the ones who’ve gone before
Even those who don’t believe -
These soldiers have fought for.
They did not ask “Should I fight and die
For those who believe not the same as I?”
But stood and fought and gave their lives
On many a foreign shore
And were once honored by a memorial cross
But they aren’t seen as worthy any more.
Each person must be given equal memorial rights
Except for the believers for unbelievers say
The towering crosses that honor their lives
Must all be taken away…

I'm with you girl. Powerful piece. I saw the latest news about the two crosses in Camp Pendleton honoring our fallen soldiers. It's a sad state of affairs that this country is quickly chasing God out of this country. Much prayer is needed to keep the U.S. from soon resembling a communist country where people will have to resort to underground churches.

It seems to me that separation of church and state should mean atheism as well. When we take away the crosses, the atheists's beliefs are the ones the state is including...

With each complaint we give in to where an atheist submits to tear down a cross, take a cross off a badge, remove God from a banner, etc., we are endorsing their "religion". Why do they care if others believe?

Of course in reality there was no separation clause included in our constitution.

Yep, you're right. As a matter of fact, we have the right to the free exercise of religion. They have a right to have their atheist "religion" as much as we have the right to believe in Jesus. I find it odd how people can get so upset over something that they don't think exists. It's like me getting upset every time I see a picture of Mickey Mouse.

People who don't believe in the devil sometimes work the hardest for him...

That's the point sister, they do in their hearts believe. You don't fight something if you don't think it exists.

A very vocal minority, can seriously impact a very large majority...the squeakier wheels seem to always have the most say and win the day. So what do we do about it?

Perhaps these trials will awake sleeping Christians and unite us with the power God has given us.

Amen! It's time to fight. We should never forget what's written in our history books when religion was no longer free to practice. In reality, all we have to do is look to nations right now that don't allow God in, like China, North Korea and the Middle East. Christians still suffer and die to spread the word of Jesus in their lands.
