"It is a matter of patriotism," explained Councilwoman Gail Eastman. "It is on our currency...it's part of what America means to us."
According to an
Orange County Register report, the motto has already been widely accepted in Orange County, where 16 cities have posted the phrase in their chambers. In addition, it notes, at least 92 California cities have included the motto and 281 counties and cities nationwide.
