Ten days of plodding
Sand upon sand
Dunes endless change
By invisible Hand.
Camel bells clanging
Glad sound of the trail.
Campfire's fresh coffee
For tired ones and frail.
Hawk's screech at daybreak
Arise and break camp.
Movement the cure
For the aches and the damp.
Doubtless today
We will come to the pool
Trading tents beckon
Refreshments and cool.
This but a blessed pause
In scratching for life.
Back to the home-camp
With goods for the wife.
