The Significance of Being Obedient to God as Christians Empty
PostSubject: The Significance of Being Obedient to God as Christians   The Significance of Being Obedient to God as Christians EmptyThu Nov 20, 2014 3:06 am

“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” (Col. 3:17 NKJV). “Who is wise? Let him understand these things. Who is prudent? Let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right; the righteous walk in them, but transgressors stumble in them.” (Hosea 14:9 NKJV)

It is a dangerous misunderstanding that the New Testament life depends only on faith and so deeds are not at all significant. It is another thing to have faith and it is a completely different thing to show your faith through deeds. If you have faith in God, you must have faith in His commands as well. Do you believe that God wants you to be of help to the needy? If so, then, show your faith by doing it.

People who claim of knowing the Bible but fail to follow it, are fools. On each and every step of our spiritual walk, we have to be attentive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Just believing wholeheartedly will not take us to heaven. We need to understand, know and walk in the ways of the Lord. Above all, we should do these in the name of the Lord Jesus which is the only way of giving thanks to God the Father.

It is true that we are grateful to God for sending His Son for us. But many times, this gratitude remains only in our hearts. But if we truly respect Christ’s sacrifice, we will do righteous deeds. Christianity is not sitting by faith, but it is walking by faith. From the time you started your Christian walk, how far have you come till now? You walk in the road to heaven only when you do the will of God.

Many times we feel tempted to think that works have lesser importance. Some feel that it is safe to just be away from sin. But staying away from evil is not enough, you should stay with righteousness as well! Can you imagine a person who does not do good deeds but can go to heaven? It is impossible. Christian life is not just reading the Bible daily but it is applying God’s word into our actions and words.

Understand that numerous non-believers are watching our lives. If we talk the Bible and not walk the Bible, what will they feel about the Christian faith? Let us be careful not to give a false idea about Christianity to others by the way we live. We need to be an example to others.

Understand that God Himself is watching our lives. He can see both our public and private lives. You can show your goodness to others but at the same time boast in your heart secretly. God sees what you do in the dark, He hears what you whisper in a person’s ear, He knows what you are thinking right now, He knows your motives – there is nothing hidden from His knowledge.

There is indeed a reward kept for us for all the good things we do in this earthly life. We may not receive any respect from people, but God surely honours those who obey Him. But we must not follow God in want of rewards, but in a pure desire to please Him.

Friend, do you obey God? Is God pleased with you?
