Early Morning
Psalm 118:24
In the dawn of morning
The whole world is new;
Its sounds are even hushed
As in a church pew.
The birds still sleep
Except for a few.
The sun having yet
To burn off the dew.
The air is still fresh
From the restful night;
The day still dozes
In its early light.
Small creatures stir
But none are in a hurry;
For the day is yet devoid
Of stress or worry.
The trees still shelter
The young in its nests.
Baby squirrels and birds
Are still at rest.
A strong south wind
Makes a cloud’s edge flair,
As though a cherub was combing
God’s long, flowing hair.
The early morning hours
Are no time to be sad!
A new day is dawning!
Rejoice and be glad!!
