Like a Rock

The ocean is vast and beautiful
As is the sand upon the shore.
The sunset with its beauty
Makes me admire it even more.

The ocean waves may come in and out
And the sand may drift away
But from sunrise until sunset
The rocks on the shore will stay.

The rocks are strong and steady
And unmoved by wind or rain
They will be there months or years from now
When we go to the shore again.

Like the shoreline changes with time
Our bodies will change and age
As we live and learn and grow
And act upon life's stage.

But new inner strength and beauty takes the place
Of the outer beauty once there to adore
As we stand firm and strong in our convictions
Steady like the rocks upon the shore

Very nice reminder to us as we age. It's not always easy watching the physical changes.
